The total installed capacity of electrochemical energy storage projects in the world is growing rapidly on the whole, but the growth rate has declined in recent years. By the end of 2015, there were 318 electrochemical energy storage projects in the world, and the cumulative installed capacity (2000-2015) was 890.9MW, an increase of 12% over the previous year, and the growth rate decreased by 7 percentage points.

By region, the United States, Japan and China are among the top three countries in terms of electrochemical energy storage accumulative installations, accounting for 44%, 35% and 12% respectively. Chile is the only South American country in the top 10 of installed storage capacity in the world, while Germany has the largest proportion of installed storage capacity in Europe.

According to the data, in 2015, the installed capacity of new energy storage + renewable energy was about 196.2MW. With the continuous decrease of energy storage technology cost and the implementation of compensation mechanism, it is estimated that by 2025, the installed capacity of new energy storage + renewable energy will exceed 12.7GW. It can be seen from the forecast data that all sectors of the world have confidence in the rapid development of the future energy storage market.
