Reporters learned from the China National Nuclear Industry Construction Corporation: the preliminary feasibility study report of jiangxi Ruijin Nuclear Power Project with a commercial capacity of 600,000 kw has passed the expert evaluation. This is an important step in the commercialization of China's 600,000-kilowatt nuclear high-temperature reactor, laying a solid foundation for the smooth implementation of China's first commercial high-temperature reactor power plant project. After receiving state approval and a construction license from the National Nuclear Safety Administration, the first phase of the Ruijin High-temperature Reactor project in Jiangxi province is scheduled to start construction in 2017 and go online to generate power on the 100th anniversary of the founding of the Communist Party of China.
As the fourth generation nuclear power technology, inherent safety is the most important feature of high temperature reactor. According to Wang Shoujun, chairman of the China National Nuclear Industry Construction Corporation, under no circumstances will there be a core melting accident or a large amount of radioactive release accident in the high-temperature reactor, which will not affect human health or the environment.
High temperature reactor technology is an advanced nuclear energy technology with China's own intellectual property rights. At present, China has systematically mastered all the technologies of high-temperature reactor, independent research and development, independent design, independent manufacturing, independent construction and independent operation, and finally achieved independent innovation, and has been in a leading position in the world for a long time.
Through multi-module combination, high-temperature reactor can build a series of nuclear power units with installed capacity of 200,000 kilowatts, 400,000 kilowatts, 600,000 kilowatts, 800,000 kilowatts and 1 million kilowatts. It is suitable for construction in countries and regions close to load centers and with small and medium-sized power grids, especially some countries and regions along the route of "One Belt And One Road".
According to an official in charge of China's nuclear construction, the high temperature reactor technology "created in China" has a solid foundation for export. Relying on its own intellectual property rights, high localization rate of equipment and inherent safety advantages, high-temperature reactor has become one of the preferred reactors to implement the "going out" strategy of nuclear power in China.
