On Aug. 14, the National Energy Administration released data on electricity consumption in July. In July, total electricity consumption reached 648.4 billion kilowatt hours, up 6.8 percent year on year. By industry, the power consumption of the primary industry was 7.2 billion KWH, up 7.9% year-on-year. Electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 455.7 billion KWH, up 4.6% from the same period last year. Electricity consumption of the tertiary industry was 103.1 billion KWH, up 11.2% year on year; The electricity consumption of urban and rural residents reached 82.4 billion kilowatt hours, up 14.6 percent year on year.
From January to July, the total electricity consumption of the whole society reached 3,877.5 billion KWH, with a year-on-year increase of 9.0%. By industry, the electricity consumption of the primary industry is 40 billion KWH, up by 10.0% year-on-year. Electricity consumption of the secondary industry was 2,688.3 billion KWH, up by 7.0% year-on-year; Electricity consumption of the tertiary industry reached 610.1 billion KWH, up 14.2% year-on-year. Domestic electricity consumption for urban and rural residents reached 539.1 billion KWH, up 13.6% year on year.
