At the "2018 Economic Situation and Power Development Analysis and Forecast Conference" recently held, Yang Kun, secretary of the Party Group and executive vice President of China Electricity Council, pointed out that at present, the polarization pattern of China's power supply and demand is becoming more and more clear, the trend of low-carbon structure is becoming more and more obvious, and the feature of system intelligence is becoming more and more prominent. To continue the transformation of the power industry into a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient system, we need to meet the four major challenges of power development and accelerate the transformation of power development in terms of quality, efficiency and power.
Yang said that the power industry has entered a critical period of mode transformation, structural adjustment and power change, and power development faces a series of challenges.
First, the development of power supply and power grid, AC and DC, coal power and clean energy is still not coordinated.
Second, problems of inadequate power supply structure adjustment, power market construction and resource utilization efficiency exist to varying degrees. "water abandonment, wind abandonment and light abandonment" are still severe and nuclear abandonment occurs from time to time.
Third, the production and operation situation of electric power enterprises is grim. The continuously high thermal coal price greatly increases the generation cost of coal power enterprises; the reduction of market transaction price reduces the income of power generation enterprises; the insufficient renewable energy subsidies increase the financial cost burden of enterprises; and the investment and operation and maintenance of environmental protection cannot be regulated through the electricity price.
Fourth, under the influence of the centralized operation of uHV project and the rapid growth of new energy generation capacity, the power system has undergone major changes in form and operation characteristics, and the pressure of power safety production has increased.
New challenges call for new changes. Yang said that to speed up the reform of power development quality, we should continue to prevent and reduce excess coal and power capacity, strive to solve the problem of clean energy consumption, further improve the structure of the power grid, improve the operation efficiency and safety and reliability of the grid.
