Preliminary statistics show that in the first half of this year, the electricity consumption of the whole society in China was about 2,775.9 billion kilowatt hours, a year-on-year growth of 2.7%, the growth rate of 1.4 percentage points higher than that of the same period last year. Experts said that although electricity consumption remained low, the growth rate of electricity consumption picked up in the first half of this year against the backdrop of capacity cuts in energy-intensive industries, indicating that structural adjustment, transformation and upgrading have achieved results.
In the first half of this year, electricity consumption in the primary, secondary and tertiary industries rose by 7.7%, 0.5%, 9.2% and 7.7%, respectively, while growth rebounded by 6.9, 1.0, 1.2 and 2.9 percentage points, respectively. In the first and second quarters, electricity consumption increased by 3.2% and 2.1%, respectively. In June, the electricity consumption of the whole society was about 492.53 billion KWH, up 2.6% year-on-year and 0.9 percentage point year-on-year.
