The manufacturing PMI rose to 52.4 per cent in September

The China Purchasing Managers Index (PMI) was released by the Service Industry Survey Center of the National Bureau of Statistics and the China Federation of Logistics and Purchasing on September 30, 2017. In September, PMI of the manufacturing industry was 52.4%, rising for two consecutive months and reaching the highest point since May 2012. It increased by 0.7 percentage points month on month and 2.0 percentage points year on year respectively. The manufacturing industry continued to maintain a steady trend of good development and the pace of expansion accelerated. 1. Manufacturing purchasing Managers' index hit a new high in recent years
In September, PMI of the manufacturing industry was 52.4%, rising for two consecutive months and reaching the highest point since May 2012. It increased by 0.7 percentage points month on month and 2.0 percentage points year on year respectively. The manufacturing industry continued to maintain a steady trend of good development and the pace of expansion accelerated. Main features of this month: First, both ends of supply and demand continue to improve, further enhance coordination. The production index and the new orders index were 54.7% and 54.8%, up 0.6 and 1.7 percentage points respectively from the previous month, both highs in recent years. The new orders index exceeded the production index for the first time this year, making the supply and demand relations more balanced. Second, domestic and foreign market demand improved, and imports and exports grew steadily. The index of new export orders was 51.3%, up 0.9 percentage points over the previous month, which was the second highest this year. The import index was 51.1%, which fell slightly, but remained at the expansion range of over 51.0%. Third, the industrial structure continued to improve, and new drivers of growth accelerated. PMI of equipment manufacturing and high-tech manufacturing were 53.3% and 52.9%, up from 0.5 and 1.0 percentage points respectively in the previous month, with both growth accelerating.
