Shandong province has released its medium - and long-term Development Plan for New and Renewable Energy (2016-2030), setting the tone for the province's future energy development. According to the plan, the province will vigorously promote a revolution in energy production and consumption with new and renewable energy as its main development direction, and accelerate the construction of a clean, low-carbon, safe and efficient modern energy system.
In terms of the future development of wind power, the province plans to build a "double thouson-kilowatt wind power base" on land and offshore, and build a big eastern province with wind power. Strive to 2020, the province's wind power grid installed capacity to reach 14 million kilowatts.
There are 57 wind power development projects this year
Since the 12th Five-Year Plan, shandong has made remarkable achievements in the development of new and renewable energy under the renewable Energy Law and a series of policies and measures. Data show that during the 12th Five-Year Plan period, the province added 8.37 million kilowatts of new and renewable energy power generation capacity, totaling 11.151 million kilowatts, accounting for 11.5% of the province's total installed power capacity, 7.1 percentage points higher than that at the end of the 11th Five-Year Plan period.
In terms of wind power development, since China's first wind farm was established in 1986 in Weihai, wind power has become the fastest growing emerging renewable energy in the province.
According to data released by the National Energy Administration earlier this year, shandong's cumulative grid-connected wind power capacity reached 8.71 million kilowatts by the end of March, and its online power capacity reached 4 billion kilowatt hours, ranking first in China.
