Two production lines using different copper indium gallium selenium (CIGS) technology will be built in Caofeidian, Tangshan, Hebei, said Wednesday. The production line will create the largest production capacity of copper indium gallium selenium-thin film battery in the world and will have long-term strategic and practical significance for China's clean energy development, officials said.
On the same day, caofeidian Hanergy Photovoltaic Co., Ltd. was established and the CIGS new technology into the park ceremony was held in Tangshan, Hebei.

Hebei Caofeidian Hanergy Photovoltaic Co., LTD., funded by Hanergy Solar Photovoltaic Technology Co., LTD., is a 3GW copper indium gallium Selenum (CIGS) thin film solar cell and flexible application product project in Caofeidian, with a total investment of 35 billion yuan and an area of about 1,500 mu. The project is divided into two phases, the first phase of the 0.6 GW copper indium gallium Selenium-(CIGS) thin film solar cell module project, with an investment of 6 billion yuan, is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2014, and the second phase of the 2.4GW copper indium gallium selenium-(CIGS) thin film solar cell and flexible application product project, with an investment of 29 billion yuan, is scheduled to be completed and put into operation by the end of 2015.
