China's installed photovoltaic capacity exceeded 43.18 million kw, ranking first in the world
By the end of the 12th Five-Year Plan period, China's cumulative photovoltaic installations had reached 43.18 million kilowatts, surpassing Germany for the first time and ranking first in the world. This is another leap for China in the field of new energy after the installed wind power ranks first in the world.
Before the 12th Five-Year Plan period, China's photovoltaic power plants were developing slowly, and the new installed capacity of photovoltaic power was not even a fraction of that of wind and thermal power. According to data provided by the China Photovoltaic Industry Association, China's photovoltaic installation capacity was only 3.5 million kilowatts in 2011.
After entering the 12th Five-Year Plan period, China's photovoltaic power station construction has entered a fast track, almost doubling every year, with the growth rate even reaching around 150% in the first two years. In 2015, China added about 15 million KILOWatts of new photovoltaic installations, up 41.5% year-on-year, accounting for 28.3% of the world's new photovoltaic installations and ranking first in the world for the third consecutive year.
Photovoltaic power stations are very effective in controlling environmental pollution and reducing greenhouse gas emissions in China. In 2015, China's photovoltaic power generation capacity was 39.2 billion KWH, which could replace 17 million tons of raw coal (12 million tons of standard coal) and reduce 31 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions. According to the future development plan, China's photovoltaic power generation will reach 200 billion kilowatt-hours and 500 billion kilowatt-hours by 2020 and 2030, replacing 85 million tons and 210 million tons of raw coal, and reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 160 million tons and 390 million tons.
