The fifth China-eu Energy Dialogue was held in Brussels, Belgium on Tuesday. Liu Tienan, deputy Director of the National Development and Reform Commission and Director of the National Energy Administration co-chaired the meeting with Eu Energy Commissioner Gunter Oettinger. The meeting made positive comments on the important progress made in China-Eu exchanges and cooperation in the field of energy, introduced the overall economic situation and energy development status of the TWO sides respectively, discussed the impact of the Fukushima nuclear accident on China-Eu energy policies and future energy development trends, and determined the plan for the next step of China-Eu energy cooperation. Qian Zhimin, Deputy Director general of the National Energy Administration, Poland's Deputy Economy Minister on behalf of the current presidency of the Eu Council, And Denmark's Minister of Construction and Energy on behalf of the succeeding presidency attended the meeting.

Strengthening strategic cooperation in energy serves the common interests of both sides and is of great significance to promoting sustainable energy development and safeguarding energy security.

Liu pointed out that energy cooperation has become one of the most active and promising areas of cooperation between China and The EU and has yielded gratifying results. To implement the important consensus reached at the China-Eu Summit, the China-Eu Energy Dialogue has been successfully held for the fourth time. China has conducted a number of practical cooperation with France in nuclear power, photovoltaic power generation with Germany, wind power with Denmark and oil exploration and development with the UK. China has become one of the most important markets for a group of world-renowned European energy companies such as Siemens, Vestas, Areva and ABB.
